Bicycle donation to government school students
Donation of bicycles to government school students to support mobility.
Overview
In the Region of Palghar and Dahanu, Rotary Club conducted a research and found out that distance between secondary school and their houses is quite a lot. The area consists of several Pada’s and the Government sanctions several primary schools in these Pada’s but sanction only 1 School upto standard 10 every 7/10 KM radius. Thus the students of standard 8, 9, & 10 have to walk a long distance to the schools approximately 5 KMs – one-way to continue their Education upto standard 10 and due to this long walk, several students drop-out and discontinue their education.
The IIFL Foundation in collaboration with Mithibai NSS Ex. Students Charitable Trust and Rotary Club, Mumbai donated 50 bicycles to students studying at Zila Parishad School, Dahanu, Palghar on 21 October 2023 who covers a distance of more than 5 KM to access the school. This school is the only educational facility till grade 10 for children residing in more than five villages.
