Overview

Early childhood years are considered to be a period of remarkable growth as brain development of the child is at its peak. Over 85% of a child’s cumulative brain development occurs prior to the age of 6, indicating the critical importance of appropriate care and stimulation of the brain in the early years in order to ensure healthy brain development and growth (NEP, 2020). Recognizing the critical importance of the early childhood period to children’s development and to the realization of their full human potential, the IIFL Foundation, launched ‘Choti-Badi Baatein’ to address the loss of mental wellbeing and key foundational learning abilities for young children in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Choti Badi Batein addressed the critical needs of children that are essential in life and to create a conducive environment of safety, growth, development. The project was being delivered through an inclusive curriculum through Community Radio stations and through interactions with children and parents/caregivers in communities.
