OVERVIEW

IIFL Foundation organised an exploratory trip for 22 members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (Sarpanchs) from Rajasthan, to Mawlynnong village in Meghalaya, which is renowned as the cleanest village in Asia.

HIGHLIGHT

  • Visit to State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) at Nongsder.
  • Exposure to programmes on skill development and entrepreneurship, Bamboo treatment and construction technology, Waste management through solid and liquid resource management, a course on gender budgeting and mainstreaming.
  • Visit to a model Anganwadi centre in the Nongsder village.
  • Exposure visit to Mawlynnong village and interaction with the Dorbar Shnong (Headman) and community member and learning of their best practices to keep the village clean and build sustainable model.
