Overview

Seva Kutir project was started to tackle the problems of malnutrition and poor learning outcomes affecting tribal children in Madhya Pradesh. The Seva Kutir project supported by IIFL Foundation serves 764 children in 10 Kutirs(villages) in Sheopur District of Madhya Pradesh. Children get education and nutrition(morning breakfast and evening dinner). Educationally, these children get 4-5 hours of good quality education along with yoga, sports, and co-curricular activities to improve their learning outcomes.

Highlights

  • 8 children from the supported Kutirs have been successfully selected in the special residential government schools such as Navodaya, Eklavya, Kanya Siksha Parisar and Model School by passing entrance examinations.
  • Parivaar conducted regular classes for all the children in the Kutir, with nutritious meals.
  • Extracurricular activities were conducted with children from sports to celebration of national and local festivals.
  • Baseline assessments of English and Maths were conducted to analyse children's growth.
  • Additionally, teachers training programs were held with the help of Education partners.
  • Regular Parents Teacher Meetings and Community Meetings are being conducted to ensure Parents' involvement and community engagement.
