Overview

Shree Ram skills center offers skill-based training to students from the underprivileged sections of society including minorities with little economic sustenance.

A major section of the youth & young adults has either not attended college or completed formal education due to their economic background. Among them a large population aspires to get trained for skills that will make them job ready.

Based on the secondary research by Shree Ram skill center, it was found that, from the various career options, a career in BFSI is quite sought after by teens and young girls as it generates employment on regular basis. Therefore, with support from the IIFL Foundation, the center designed this project to build skills of youth, particularly young girls to understand the importance of economic independence.

This is a customized program in BFSI sector, which provides internship as well as support towards campus placement to the project beneficiaries.

Highlight

The project beneficiaries are the financially underprivileged students who have traditionally faced barriers to accessing quality education. These students often lack awareness about opportunities to get trained for careers and earn a livelihood. They embody a personality that is low self-confidence and self-esteem due to their hardships. The project faced challenges to make them aware about career opportunities in the banking industry, instill confidence in them, and motivate them to stay committed to the project, at the same time highlight the importance of completing their graduation. The achievement of this project lies with the regular attendance of students, demonstrating their commitment towards getting trained for careers in BSFI and their overall personal development.

All students have shown good academic growth throughout the project along with a reasonable understanding about each financial vertical. This has positively impacted their self-confidence and college education. Improvement in public speaking skills has been observed among students thus contributing to their overall personality development and communication skills. Students' self-confidence and esteem have notably increased, reflected in their demeanor, and interpersonal skills. Overall, students have developed a strong belief in their abilities to pursue their desired job roles in industry which was lacking earlier.

The success of the BFSI project has extended beyond individual participants to the wider community. Enhanced interest levels among other students in neighborhood indicating its positive impact among young learners. By empowering underprivileged students with skills, and confidence, we are contributing to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a more inclusive and prosperous society.

The project's success in empowering underprivileged students underscores the importance of targeted interventions to address educational disparities. Moving forward, we aim to expand our reach and continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of underprivileged students, equipping them with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in their academic and professional endeavors.
