Overview
Under this project, we aim to create a green and inclusive space for the community, providing numerous benefits such as improved aesthetics, recreational opportunities, environmental awareness, and fostering a sense of community in three years. The garden has been developed on a 2500 Sq. Mtr. piece of land with plantation of 10,400 indigenous plant species which are 100% organic, wild, fast growing & self-sustainable.
This project trees will not only help revive the ecosystem but also help in Carbon Sequestration of 250 Tons of Carbon /Tree/Year (Avg 25 kgs per tree per year). It has been designed to incorporate sustainable practices, indigenous plant species, and eco-friendly landscaping techniques to ensure minimal environmental impact as per Miyawaki method. Miyawaki forests grow 10x faster, are 30 x denser and contain 100x more biodiversity.
Since they’re quick to establish, maintenance-free after the first two-to-three years, and can be created on sites as small as 3 sq m, Miyawaki forests are viable solutions for cities looking to rapidly build climate resilience. The Miyawaki method mimics the way a forest would recolonise itself if humans stepped away. The Miyawaki method isn’t just unique because it restores native habitats using native trees; the afforestation principles are based on an understanding of how these species would interact in a natural forest.

The objectives of this project align with our commitment to social responsibility which are:
- Enhance the aesthetics of the community: The garden will serve as a visually appealing space, contributing to the overall beauty and liveliness of the area.
- Provide recreational opportunities: The garden will offer a peaceful environment for various recreational activities such as walking, jogging, picnicking, and other outdoor pursuits, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
- Foster a sense of community: The garden will serve as a gathering place, facilitating social interaction and community bonding through events, celebrations, and volunteering opportunities.
Environmental Benefits
- Increasing Biodiversity by 30 times by planting over 100 species compared to conventional forest.
- Improving soil and water quality.
- Approximately 250 TONS of Carbon Sequestration annually by 10000 trees planted.
- Reducing Earths Core Temp.
- Help in Bee conservation, as bee play a very important role in ecosystem conservation through pollination.
- Increasing surrounding biodiversity due to Pollination.
- Multiple increase in Bird species residing.
- It will create a natural forest wall to safeguard the surrounding locations from getting destroyed.
- Improve the quality of soil by safeguarding against soil erosion during rains & also help create sub soil biodiversity.
Social Benefits
- Volunteering activity for plantation helped in building community spirit and unity.
- Help in educating the communities about the benefits of trees and nature.
- Create awareness in people to convert their garden to meaningful forest.
- Creating a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing, reducing stress to the citizens.
- Provide clean & fresh air, absorbs odours and pollutants.
- The activity also creates 1000 of Man Days Jobs.

Testimonials
- “Urban forestry by Miyawaki method is most appropriate considering the small urban spaces. This method ensures density of trees in small spaces and convert these spaces into a forest. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the BMC leadership, Mrs. Madhu Jain (IIFL Foundation) and her team, Dr. RK Nair (Enviro Creators Foundation) and his team and everyone involved in this project on behalf of BMC. Let’s changeover Mumbai city!”. Mr. Vishwas Mote, Assistant Commissioner, BMC.
- “I am very overwhelmed with the enthusiasm shown by team IIFL Foundation, the project GROW by planting 10,400 trees under Miyawaki method in association with BMC and Enviro Creators Foundation – Forest Creators. It is currently the need of the hour to grow trees as much as possible for tackling the climate change problems faced by us it is we humans who have harmed the nature in the name of development. But now it is our duty to safeguard it and IIFL foundation has taken a small step towards it hope it gives a positive message and encourages other to take up such initiatives as well. Involved students is good initiative as they are the future of this planet”. Dr. RK Nair, Green hero of India, Gujarat State awardee.
