Overview

The Mahakumbh, a globally renowned spiritual gathering, took place in 2025. Millions of pilgrims from across the world gathered to converge in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh for this sacred event. Pilgrims at the Mahakumbh often face a unique set of health challenges due to the massive crowds, environmental conditions, and physical exertion involved in the event.

Therefore, IIFL Foundation established Floating Medical Services and provided Primary Health Care services through dedicated health stall to provide accessible, responsive, and efficient healthcare for the pilgrims, particularly those in and around the riverbanks and water-based activities. This initiative marks the first instance of floating healthcare units being deployed at such a large gathering, which was expected to draw over 400 million visitors to the spiritual festival.

In collaboration with Hindustan Scouts and Guides, IIFL Foundation delivered first-aid emergency health support on these fifteen-boat ambulances, supported by a dedicated fifty-member strong team. Additionally, IIFL Foundation also established a health centre equipped with two qualified doctors and essential medical equipment to further enhance the healthcare services available to the pilgrims.
